I have a professional obligation to drink in West Hollywood, and a personal one to complain about the parking. The cocktail bars here run a gamut from a tiki bar where the bartenders roast you like a comedy club to a Parisian speakeasy that makes you feel like you’re on a date with your own conscience.

I have sipped a frozen Aperol spritz on a heater-warmed patio, and I have questioned my life choices over a churro whiskey shot that tasted like dessert and regret. One place made me feel seen; another made me question my safety.

Such is the beautiful chaos of this boulevard. Here is where to get the drink you actually need.

Coffee and cocktails in one
Upscale self-care afternoon spot
Layered drinks with bold flavors
Staff that makes you feel seen
Weekend energy, perfected

I walked into Or Bar expecting a drink and left feeling like I'd had a therapy session and a pep talk, all in one. It's a coffee and cocktail hybrid that nails both sides, which is rarer than you'd think. The layered drinks hit with bold flavors that demand your attention, and the staff has this unsettling way of remembering your name and your order and your mood. It's an upscale self-care afternoon spot, the kind where you can show up solo and leave feeling like you've been seen. The weekend energy here is perfected, buzzing but never chaotic. I genuinely didn't want to leave.

Moulin Rouge-inspired, cozy vibe
Bearded Lady and Mind Reader
Friendly, fun-loving bar staff
2000s singalong dance music

Bar Jubilee is what happens when someone decides a cocktail bar should feel like a Moulin Rouge fever dream, and I mean that as the highest compliment. The vibe is cozy in a way that makes you want to linger, with reds and velvets and a general sense of theatrical mischief. The Bearded Lady and Mind Reader are two drinks I still think about, both weirdly balanced and full of personality. The bar staff are friendly and fun-loving, quick with a joke and even quicker with a pour. And then the music hits, all 2000s singalong dance tracks, and suddenly everyone is your best friend. It's chaos, but the good kind.

Top ten tiki nationwide
Authentic tiki mug service
Zeke and Shane’s bar banter
Delightful, fun entryway
Excellent cocktails and decor

The Lucky Tiki earned its spot in my mental top ten tiki bars nationwide, and honestly, it might be number one on charm alone. The entryway is a delightful bit of whimsy that sets the tone before you even order. The drinks come in authentic tiki mugs, which I appreciate because I am a grown adult who still wants to drink from a carved coconut head. Zeke and Shane run the bar with a banter that feels like you've walked into a private comedy show, only the punchlines are perfectly poured rum cocktails. The decor is excellent, every corner a little escape. I went for one drink and stayed for four.

Speakeasy with gangster movie vibes
Friendly, unpretentious expert bartenders
Unique, tasty specialty drink names
Dark, cozy, intimate atmosphere
Designer almonds with luscious libations

The Roger Room feels like a speakeasy that a gangster movie forgot to close down, all dark wood and low light and whispered secrets. It's cozy and intimate, the kind of place where you lean in to hear and end up telling the bartender things you didn't plan to. The staff are experts but completely unpretentious, happy to walk you through their specialty drinks with names that are as unique as they are tasty. I ordered something called a designer almond situation and it came with actual almonds, which felt both ridiculous and luxurious. The atmosphere is dark, cozy, and perfect for a slow evening. I left feeling like I'd gotten away with something.

Storied history, rocky welcome
Skilled staff, if you find them
Understaffed bar, questionable safety
Bartender handled chaos maturely
Plan your night elsewhere

Bar 1200 has a storied history, and my welcome was rocky, to say the least. The place was understaffed, which I get, but the safety question hung in the air longer than I'd like. I found the skilled staff eventually, but only after wandering around like a lost tourist. The bartender who did finally help me handled the chaos with a maturity that impressed me, even as I watched other customers get increasingly restless. The drinks were fine, but the experience felt like a gamble. I get the appeal for some, but I'd plan your night elsewhere. I did.

Great date night spot

Rideau Speakeasy at Arden is a 1920s Parisian daydream tucked behind an unassuming door. The drinks are strong and the prices are fair, which already puts it ahead of half of WeHo. The space is intimate, perfect for actual conversation, the kind where you can hear your date without shouting. I got to meet the cocktail creator, who seemed genuinely excited to talk about their work, and that enthusiasm is infectious. It's a great date night spot, the sort of place where you can pretend you're in another era while sipping something smoky. I left feeling romantic and slightly tipsy, in the best way.

Bar Lubitsch is a sprawling, multi-room affair that somehow manages to feel both cool and unfussy. The front bar staff are excellent, quick with a smile and a recommendation that actually lands. I wandered through the different rooms and each one had its own personality, but all of them felt like good places to get stuck for a few hours. The drinks are solid, nothing groundbreaking, but consistently well-made and the service was attentive without being clingy. It's a fun, spacious hangout spot, the kind of place where you can bring a big group or just settle into a corner with a friend. I appreciated the flexibility.

Schmitty's is a cozy, dimly lit space that feels like a secret you're not sure you should share. The frozen aperol spritz is the star of the show, dangerously drinkable and perfect for a warm evening. The bartenders are friendly and will happily craft something custom if you're feeling adventurous, which I was. There's a spacious patio with heaters, so you can enjoy the night air without freezing. I also noticed a curious piano in the corner, and I have to wonder what future events might unfold there. It's a comfortable, unpretentious spot that I left feeling like I'd found a new favorite.

Return-worthy, cozy atmosphere

Café Woods is the kind of place you return to, and I say that with the confidence of someone who has already planned her next visit. The Day Dream cocktail is exactly that, a sweet, layered escape, and the chai latte next to it is equally good in a completely different way. The staff are friendly and honest, which is rarer than you'd think in this town. I left my phone behind, and they not only kept it safe but returned it with a smile that made me feel less like an idiot and more like a valued regular. The atmosphere is cozy and return-worthy. It's a small thing, but it matters.

Bar Benjamin feels like stepping into an old London club, all wood and brass and quiet confidence. The creative drinks are worth savoring, each one a small project in flavor and presentation. The staff are attentive and friendly, quick to explain their choices without ever talking down to you. For whiskey lovers, this place is a treasure hunt, with favorites and obscure finds alike. I spent a good hour just sipping and soaking in the ambiance. Unreal Weho happy hour prices
Churro whiskey shot surprise
Cozy hole-in-the-wall vibe
Fun screens and board games
Friendly staff and crowd

Mic's Bar is a hole-in-the-wall that delivers the most unreal happy hour prices in WeHo, and I mean that as a pure compliment. I walked in expecting a dive and found a cozy spot with fun screens and a stack of board games that immediately charmed me. The surprise of the night was the churro whiskey shot, which sounds ridiculous and tastes incredible, like dessert and a decision all at once. The staff and crowd are friendly, the kind of place where strangers become conversation partners by the second round. It's not fancy, but it doesn't need to be. I left full, happy, and slightly confused about how I ended up there.

Elegant bar and coffee spot
Upscale ambiance and design

Or Bar Coffee is the more refined sibling of the cocktail bar next door, an elegant space that manages to be both sophisticated and welcoming. The upscale ambiance and design make you feel like you've stepped into a place that takes its craft seriously, and the drinks are made very well, whether you're there for espresso or something stronger. It's great for dates or business meetings, with a vibe that adjusts to your needs. The hours are extended and it's remote friendly, which I appreciated when I needed to camp out with my laptop and pretend to work. I ended up staying longer than planned, but that's the point, right?
