Brunch in West Hollywood is rarely just a meal; it is a production, a performance, and occasionally a contact sport. You can stumble out of a late-night screening and into diner pancakes at a 1950s time capsule, or you can linger over a perfectly composed quiche in an art-filled room, pretending you are the protagonist of a quiet film.

We sent a writer to a dozen spots across the city, from a boisterous Sunset Boulevard honky-tonk with dangerously cheap mimosas to a refined steakhouse where the lighting flatters everyone. The coffee was hot, the waffles were judged, and at least one bathroom attendant earned a standing ovation.

Here are the best brunches in WeHo, ranked.

Delicious pancakes and milkshakes
Friendly, attentive, personable service

Mels Drive-In is not a place one stumbles upon so much as a place one tumbles into, a glass-and-chrome time capsule where the 1950s never quite learned to leave. The googie architecture juts skyward with the confidence of a rocket ship that has decided to serve pancakes. And what pancakes they are, fluffy clouds of buttermilk optimism, ideally chased by a milkshake thick enough to require a small workout. The service is personable, the valet in back is free, and the hours stretch to 3 AM on weekends, which means your brunch can blur into your late-night regret. It is West Hollywood's most sincere diner, and it wears its age beautifully. Very short sentences matter here: The coffee is hot. The booth is sticky. I loved it.

1: Great White manages the trick of feeling both airy and grounded, a room so tastefully composed that you suspect an interior designer lives inside the wallpaper. The interior design is genuinely beautiful, all soft light and calm textures, and yet the food refuses to be overshadowed. The burrito is a hearty, confident assembly, and the pancakes arrive with the kind of golden-brown patience that suggests someone actually cares. Sunday seating was prompt, which in Los Angeles feels like a minor miracle. The service is attentive without hovering, and when a small issue arose with my order, the resolution was handled with such grace that I nearly forgot the mishap entirely. A brunch here is a study in quiet competence, and I mean that as the highest compliment.

2: Bravo Toast is a place that understands a simple truth: brunch is not a performance, it is a promise. The breakfast burrito is excellent, robust and properly seasoned, the kind of thing you crave on a hungover Tuesday. But the real stars are the Ricotta Toast and the Green Goddess, which sound like wellness influencers but taste like actual culinary intent. The Vanilla Matcha Latte is superior, a quiet triumph of balance over trend. There is a polished, polite bathroom attendant who makes the restroom feel like a spa annex. No shortcuts here, no lazy substitutions. The menu reads like someone’s honest handwriting. And in a city of theatrical brunches, that honesty is a rare and refreshing thing. Short sentence: I ordered twice. I regretted nothing.

3: Saddle Ranch Chop House is brunch as spectacle, and it knows it. The bottomless mimosas for ten dollars are a dangerous bargain, the kind of deal that turns a quiet Sunday into a loud memory. The people watching on Sunset Boulevard is prime, a parade of hats and dogs and sunglasses. Portions are generous, ideal for sharing, though you may not want to share the warm, flaky butter biscuits, which are the unsung heroes of the meal. The chips and dip arrive with a creative presentation that feels like a small art installation, edible and absurd. It is loud, it is silly, and it is wonderful. The service keeps pace with the chaos. Bring friends, bring appetite, and maybe bring a designated driver. You will need all three.

4: Or Bar is the kind of place you go to when you need to remind yourself that self-care is not just a candle you bought online. It is an upscale afternoon spot with dual bars, one for coffee, one for cocktails, which feels like a choose-your-own-adventure for adults. The pastries are delicious, flaky and buttery, and the quiche is a proper quiche, not a sad egg pie. The service is gracious and attentive, the kind of staff that notices when your coffee is low before you do. The ambiance is stylish, filled with art that invites a second glance. I sat by the window, sipped something warm, and felt the city slow down. It is a brunch that feels like a secret, even if it is not one. The matcha was also good, though I did not ask for it.

5: Café Woods is a small, unassuming spot that does not shout for attention, and that is exactly why it deserves yours. The service is superb, friendly in a way that feels personal rather than scripted. The chai latte is delicious, spiced with a warmth that lingers on the tongue, and the signature drinks are memorable without trying too hard to be clever. The staff is attentive and honest, which is rare; when I asked for a recommendation, they gave me an actual opinion, not a sales pitch. The room is modest, and the crowd seems to be locals who know a good thing. It is the kind of brunch you hope to find by accident and then guard jealously. The avocado toast was fine. The company was better. I will go back, and I will order the same thing again.

6: Ysabel is a masterclass in ambiance, a space that feels elegantly inviting the moment you step through the door. The valet parking is a convenience that should not be underestimated, and the prices, for what you receive, are fair. The dishes are exquisite, beautifully presented as if each plate were a small commission. The flavors are gourmet, uniquely crafted, and the steak I tried was juicy and cooked with precision. The service is attentive and personable, the kind of staff that remembers your name even if you told them only once. It is a brunch for a special occasion, or for a Tuesday when you feel like pretending. Either way, you will leave feeling pampered. The lighting is forgiving, the food is not. That is a compliment. There is no other way to say it.

7: Urth Caffe Melrose is a West Hollywood staple, iconic and nostalgic in a way that makes you feel part of a larger story. The produce in the salads is fresh, glistening with the kind of dew that suggests it was not picked too long ago. The date shakes are creamy and dreamy, a dessert disguised as a beverage. The service is quick, kind, and attentive, a small miracle given the crowds. The outdoor balcony seating is relaxing, a perch from which to watch the city drift by. It is not the quietest brunch, nor the most refined, but it has a soul. I ordered a salad, then a shake, and then another shake. The balcony sun felt like a benediction. This is a place where the past and the present shake hands, and they both order the same thing. That is a beautiful thing.

8: Cavatina is a spacious, cozy outdoor spot that feels like a living room with a better view. The seating is generous, and the ambiance is perfect for a group, especially a private group brunch that turns into a birthday celebration. The Wagyu burger is delicious, juicy and charred with the kind of confidence that makes you forget the bun. The service is attentive and memorable, the staff seemingly able to anticipate needs before they are spoken. It is a place where you can laugh loudly and not worry about the neighbors. The portions are solid, and the wine list is reasonable. I watched a birthday table nearby, and the staff brought out a dessert with a sparkler, which felt both theatrical and sincere. I recommend coming hungry, leaving happy, and tipping well. That is the full review, nothing more.

9: Arden Restaurant is a dreamy night-time floral affair, even if you come for brunch, because the ambiance refuses to be confined to a clock. The floral decorations are lush, almost romantic, and the lighting does wonders for everyone. The steak is juicy, the sides are perfect, and everything arrives fresh and beautifully plated. The decor is luxurious, with no shortcuts taken, which is a rarity in this city. The service is attentive, and the staff seems genuinely pleased to see you. I ordered a salad that was so pretty I almost felt guilty eating it, but I did anyway. It was crisp, bright, and properly dressed. The steak came next, and it was the kind of meat that makes you slow down. Arden is a brunch that pretends to be dinner, and that is its charm. I left full, satisfied, and slightly in love.

10: GYM Bar WeHo is a warm, welcoming neighborhood spot that feels like the good kind of secret. The Caesar salad is fresh and beautiful, with a dressing that is creamy and sharp in equal measure. The bartender is attentive, and the vibes are great, especially if you are there to watch tennis. I sat at the bar, ordered the salad, and felt the calm of a place that does not try too hard. Portions are solid, generous without being wasteful. The crowd seems to be a mix of locals and tennis fans, all of whom seem to understand that this is a place to linger. It is not flashy, not pretentious, just a good bar with good food and good company. The staff remembered my order the next time I came in, which is a small thing that means everything. Order the salad, tip well, and stay for the match.

11: Ardor is a brunch that takes its name seriously. The milk bread nearly melts on the tongue, a texture so soft it feels like a secret. The salmon sashimi comes with a sauce that is exceptional, bright and saline, the kind of thing you want to spoon over everything else. The steak is worth every bite, charred outside, rosy inside, and the onion rings are so good they demand their own order, not a side. The service is witty and warm, a rare combination of professionalism and personality. The room is modern, with an open kitchen that feels like theater. I watched the chef plate a dish, and it was art. The cocktails are inventive, and the wine list is thoughtful. It is not an inexpensive brunch, but it is a memorable one. Go hungry, order the onion rings, and forgive yourself later. That is the whole point. And that is enough.
